One would never guess...

Hmm condensing 100,000 words down into a 150-200 word synopsis is difficult?  Really?

Whew.

Getting a lot of help from the members on AQC, but still have a little ways to go.

Still editing/formating and cutting down my word count on the manuscript.

Only 25,000 more words to go!

Closer

Well my query is definitely coming along.  All the folks at AQC have been a great help!  It is not an easy task to boil down a 100,000 word book into two or three short paragraphs, let me tell you.  Lots of work, but worth it.

Still have much editing/formating to do on my novel.  I'm aiming for 100,000 words, still at 127,000 or so.  I know I'm not the only author to feel this way, but I think I have a good chance at getting this one published.

Way to go me!

AQC (AgentQueryConnect)

Well I have joined and gotten some feedback on my query letter.  Whoa.

Whoever said query writing is its own artform wasn't kidding.  Aside from the 'practice makes perfect' paradigm, I can see that writing a good query is nearly as difficult as writing the book!

Will work some more on formatting today.  I think I have figured out the ending, but need to edit and format the story.

Book still at 127,000 words-paring back to 100,000 or so before submitting.

Query

Now the hard part begins.  Wading through many agent's blogs and suggestions, I have found different agents have different guidelines for queries, and each seems to expect slightly different styles.  The only real answer I can come up with is that I will have to revise and cater each Query to the agent requesting it.

Inspiration

I have been making excellent progress on my book, just need to put some final touches and pen the last and biggest fight scene.  Almost at the 350 page mark, which is not bad at all.  Been busy over the holidays and not able to write as much as I would have liked, but with the New Year comes new focus.

Progress

I took the time to work some on my book last night, also yesterday I found some very good information on other blogs about getting published, query letters, etc.

I am having a bit of a dilemma putting in a bit of 'filler' scenes, though.  I need to insert some normal everyday scenes in the beginning of my book that do not contain any action.  I'll have to be careful about this though because I do not want to drag it out so far it loses the audience's interest.

Until I get home to work on it some more; work, work, work.  Ugh.

It's About Time

I have been writing the majority of my life and have finally gotten to the point where I am taking it to a serious level.  I have created this blog as a way to better organize my thoughts on writing, get feedback from other authors/potential readers, and possibly even network with agents and editors.  It is my hope that by doing so I will be able to better myself as a writer and develop something further that has always brought me joy.

Happy Reading!
